I’ll be the first to admit, I’m especially prone to tears this time of year.
It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it seems like every commercial during the holidays tugs on my heart strings…and the Macy’s “In Dad’s Shoes” commercial is no different:
Have you seen it?
I couldn’t tell you the last time I raced to YouTube to find and re-watch a commercial after seeing it on TV just one time. (In fact, I don’t recall EVER looking for a commercial on YouTube).
But this one was different.
Macy’s Christmas Commercials Get Me Every Time
In the past, Macy’s had another commercial that moved me called “Celebrate Everything”. It played on the recent trend of people picking one word to focus on for the New Year. But the “Celebrate Everything” commercial took this concept to a poetic and emotional new level.
I tried desperately to scribble down all the words the first time around, but failed miserably; so I watched and replayed the commercial, jotting down as many moments as I could, all the while inserting my own memories in as I watched the others play out so beautifully before me.
Here are just a few of my favorite moments to celebrate:
- Firsts
- Birthdays
- Memories
- Beginnings
- Besties
- Snow Days
- Game Days
- Saturdays
- Late Nights
- Traditions
- Family
- Stories
- Parades
- Everything!
Celebrate & Give
As you can see, some are big and occasional, while others seem mundane and everyday. But what I love the most is that Macy’s so beautifully yet effortlessly reminds us that there truly are no small or big moments – only moments worth celebrating.
I film a daily video blog (aka Vlog) and I sign off every day with, “Have a great day, make sure you make it great, and don’t wait to tell someone you love how you feel about them.”
Tomorrow is never guaranteed; all we have is today.
So wherever you find yourself this holiday season, no matter who you’re with, I hope you’ll find reason to celebrate everything!
Savings is another reason to celebrate. Take 20% off during this week’s current Macy’s sale with code GIVE through 12/15. And stay tuned, because if history repeats itself, we’ll likely have another One Day Sale this December as well!
